Dr Hasiyatu Abubakari (Principal Investigator)
Dr Abubakari is a Research Fellow at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana at the Language, Literature and Drama section. She holds a PhD (Suma Cum Laude) in African Studies (Languages and Literatures) from the University of Vienna, Austria (2018) and an MPhil in Theoretical Linguistics from the University of Tromsø in Norway (2011). Her Undergraduate certificate is in English Language and Linguistics (First Class) from the University of Ghana Legon (2007). She is a fellow of the American Council of Learned Society (AHP: 2019-2020) and an editorial board member of the Journal of West African Languages (2017-date). Her research interest is to see less studied languages and cultures, of especially the minority ethnic groups of the Northern part of Ghana, well researched and documented. She focuses on both descriptive, theoretical and applied linguistics. She has projects that focus on language and media, language and gender, language and education, language and environment, folklore, onomastics among others.

Dr Adwoah Sikayena Amankwah (Co-Investigator)
Adwoa S. Amankwah (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer of Media and Communications at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, (UPSA) Ghana and the Head of the Communication Studies Department, UPSA. She has pedagogical, research and industry experience in training journalists and communications scholars and practitioners on various projects. Her research interests intertwine areas such as digital media, political communication and elections, health communication, media as well as the interface between language and communication. By applying theory to practice, she explores the nexus between these subjects and contemporary issues that aim at providing pragmatic solutions to challenges confronting communications and society. She has a number of publications in peer reviewed journals to her credit and has presented research papers at international conferences. Her most recent article which is published in Vol. 16 November, 2022 edition of the International Journal of Communication is titled: Cultivating Communication Resilience as an Adaptive-Transformative Process During a Global Pandemic: Extending the Purview of the Communication Resilience Theory. She holds a PhD in Communication Science from the University of South Africa.

Prof. Abigail Opoku Mensah (Co-Investigator)
Abigail Opoku Mensah, holds a PhD in Industrial and Organisational Psychology. She is an associate professor in the Department of Business Administration at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). She is currently the Director of the Centre for International Education and Collaboration -UPSA. At the University, she also serves on a number of boards and committees and actively participates in a number of external services within the University and beyond. Abigail’s research interests include workplace diversity and knowledge management, work-family conflict, employee work attitudes, employee efficiency and effectiveness, and social issues in management. She has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and presented numerous academic papers at conferences, both locally and internationally. She is an alumna of DAAD/DIES- the Training Course on ‘Management of Internationalization’ (Germany), a Work Family Researchers Network-USA Early Career Fellow, a member of the Ghana Psychology Council, the International Federation of University Women (Geneva), and the Work and Family Researchers Network (U.S.A.).
